I’m hoping to get a range of experiences from new and seasoned motorhomers alike, with the aim of sharing their stories and adventures using Brit Stops. Exciting times
We like to think we’re fairly seasoned motorhomers, but even after five years and two motorhomes we’re still learning every day. That’s part of what we love about motorhoming, there’s always something new to find out, and more experiences just waiting around the corner.
This is a big year for us, we love motorhoming and so wanted to expand our repertoire beyond short motorhome weekends and holidays in UK/France/Spain. We’ve just bought a new motorhome, Carthago’s liner-for-two, a new model launched in the last few months. We are now full-timing in it for 6 months, touring UK and Europe! We were so excited on pick up day that we missed the closed road sign on the single track road on the way to Lincolnshire campsite and had to reverse a few hundred metres with deep ditches either side and perform a 9 point turn less than an hour after we’d been handed the keys!! We really are very lucky, the liner-for-two is a dream in every way, we keep pinching ourselves to ensure this is reality!
Why Brit Stops works for us
We’ve used Brit Stops as part of our UK travels ever since we came across their stand at NEC Caravan and Motorhome show 2014… We were enthusiastic newbies at the time, about to purchase our first motorhome and picking up every brochure/leaflet/map in sight, but this one has definitely lasted the journey and we now update our Brit Stops book each year. We always like to check out a number of options for our next night’s stay and given our experiences of Brit Stops – friendly and welcoming hosts, flexibility and easy parking – it is always one of our considerations.
One Brit Stops pub was shut for the night when we arrived, as some 24 hour road works were closing the road the following day, however the landlord still let us stay in the car park and we set early alarms to ensure we didn’t get trapped. Our most recent stop was a real winner, a friendly cosy pub in a country village with a log fire and great food, found on a cold night at the end of a long days drive. Another country pub stop with an adjacent farm involved helping reunite a ewe and her lamb as our first task in the morning!
Sometimes it’s good to put down the tablets and smart phones and pick up a book instead to find your site. The clarity of the information and the comprehensive key makes it so easy to use, and it’s always a winner when the technology lets you down for one reason or another.
